The Top Ten Argumentative Essay Topics For Eighth GradeArgumentative essay topics for 8th grade are some of the most important parts of your grade. In the high school and college level, essays are not graded on the basis of simple recitation of facts or syllabus definitions. Instead, a person's essay will be analyzed based on a different set of criteria, such as persuasiveness, originality, and interesting ideas. However, there are some argumentative essay topics that students, in particular, want to use their essays to express themselves about.
Point Writer: I've done quite a bit of research over the years on point writers and their analysis. It seems the majority of point writers use a combination of both 'high school'college style' analysis to gauge the argument's persuasiveness. For example, they will ask the reader if they have evidence for the claim and if they can prove that the claim is true or false, or a combination of both.
Some of the most interesting things I've seen in this research involved 'Where Did You Get That'? The question asked in the question and answer section is the most crucial to the overall argument. It is also where most arguments break down and become boring.
A more interesting question would be 'What are the facts or definition you used?' This type of question gives a student a chance to respond to the original question and help them defend their claim. Without this information, the writer does not know how much to debate the validity of the claim. Also, this type of question lets students' essay themes and topics show themselves in the process.
A great example of this occurs during the college writing portion of the argument. You may have a 'Theory of Everything' and therefore can honestly say that there is 'no Theory of Everything.' If you submit your argument without defending it first, you risk people assuming that your claim is true and that you are right about everything.
I've written a number of essays in which I simply put 'has anybody else' instead of 'does anybody else'. There is a very good chance that your essay is already a class exercise because of the fact that it makes a claim. However, your essay's argumentative theme will shine through during the college writing process and can give the best chance for an A. Once you have it edited, your essay will be more likely to get you an A.
To summarize, the most interesting argumentative essay topics are those where students learn to present their ideas in a number of different ways and arguments. A good essay with a few different approaches will help to see where you stand and also let your essay themes show.
